             abstract = "In the last two years the Brazilian government is working to 
                         establish legal and institutional mechanisms to manage the marine 
                         aquaculture in Brazil. To make the necessary studies for that, the 
                         institutions involved needs consistent data bases and technical, 
                         operational and methodological capacity of spatial analysis. In 
                         this context, at April 2006 was made a workshop in Santa Catarina 
                         to construct a method of representation and analysis of spatial 
                         data to subsidize the sea farms site selection process. The 
                         results indicate that the probabilistic method of representation 
                         and spatial analysis is more indicated than the traditional 
                         deterministic.",
